You know life is good when there is just no time to sit down and blog. A special little someone turned one earlier this week. We were in Cozumel, Mexico for Vivian’s actual birthday, but celebrated her birthday with friends and family with a backyard barbecue before we left.
Her first birthday was a bittersweet one. It made me realize just how fast this last year went by, and it hit me like a ton of bricks that she’s growing up and won’t stay little forever. It’s easy to get caught up in the early baby stages with all the spit up and night time feedings, and when it’s all over you think back and remember how tender and sweet those moments really were. Vivian was born preemie at 34 weeks and weighed only 3lbs 13oz and stayed in the NICU for 2 1/2 weeks. In a way I’m grateful for that because she stayed “little” for what seemed a little longer than most babies since preemies take longer to catch up.
I don’t want this post to become a sappy one so I will end it here, with a few pictures of Mexico and her birthday.
The staff at the resort were the best, they made her a “birthday cake” and sang the traditional mañanitas to her.
Day trip to a small village El Cedral in Cozumel.
Beautiful Playa del Carmen. Why can’t I live here?
Life with Elvis has been awesome! Frustrating at times with training him, but overall we’re happy to have him in our lives and in our home. He’s an early riser, getting up every morning at 6 am to go potty and eat. He’s also still teething so he loves to chew on anything he can get his paws on. He actually just chewed up a brand new pair of heels I bought not even a week ago and wore only one (this is where the frustrating part comes in!).
But all in all, he’s super sweet and a cuddle bug. Did I mention I can’t wait until he outgrows the teething phase?
Our new puppy!! The cutest chocolate Lab ever. We picked him up over the weekend and I have been following his tail ever since wiping up pee puddles. He’s the most chill and lazy puppy ever and I love that about him. I grew up with 2 pitbulls at home, so this is definitely a change of pace. Don’t get me wrong, I love my pitbulls, but boy were they hyper!
The breeder we brought him home from is great. The dogs live on his farm where they are free to roam and run around all day. We knew we did not want a pet store puppy so my hubs did some research and found this great breeder in Indiana.
Looking forward to many adventures with Elvis!
We still do not have a house. At this point I’m super frustrated. I’m tired of living with 1/3 of my clothes (which happens to be mostly warm weather clothes, by the way). If you recall from this post, we moved in with my brother-in-law and his family in August (after our apartment lease expired) thinking we would only be here for a couple months at the most. Thanksgiving has come and gone, it’s almost Christmas and we’re still house-less. I’m tired of sleeping in a full size bed. I am aching to bake Christmas goodies but my sister-in-law does not bake and has absolutely no baking dishes. Frustrating, I know.
Hopefully the New Year will bring us a cute little house we so much desire. I’ll keep you updated!
We the lost the house. The deal fell through. We just got back from Mexico and we knew before we left town that the deal was no more. We still held onto a bit of hope that it could still work out, but in the end I guess it wasn’t meant to be. I’m a big believer in that things happen for a reason. I guess this house wasn’t in our plan. All I know is that we have to start back from square one. That is the frustrating part.
Well as you know, we moved out of our apartment a month ago now. I can’t believe it’s been that long. So, right now we’re living with my brother-in-law, his wife and two kids until we find a house.
We took up residence in my 3 year old nephew’s bedroom for the time being, which looks something like this
And has drawers full of this
And another drawer full of insanely cute and adorable shoes
My husband and I don’t have kids, and so I find all the kids’ toys, shoes, and clothes to be insanely cute. Everything is so small! I would always say to my husband.
The move and our longer commute to school and work has been an adjustment to say the least, but we know that the wait will be worthwhile.
We’re officially out of our apartment, and it was a bittersweet event. The Hubs and I loved living there so we were bummed to have to leave the place, but we’re (hopefully) closing on a house soon so we didn’t want to extend the lease any longer.
Currently, we’re crashing over at my brother-in-laws. I feel so out of place though because they’re out of town until tonight and so we’ve been living in a strange house since Sunday and we don’t know where anything is. Needless to say, things have been crazy around here. We moved everything except for some of our clothes into my parents house. So I just feel like I don’t know where anything is. And to top it all off, I have finals this week and next, and the Hubs and I are going out of town in a couple weeks (I will probably have to stash whatever clothes I can find in my suitcase and call it a day). Aghhh!!
On another note, I’ve been busy wasting endless amount of time on the internet looking at inspiration for the house. I’m excited because Erin over at Elements of Style also just closed on a house and is doing renovations on her house as well, and so I’m excited to see what she comes up with (I love, love, love her style).
Well, just wanted to post an update on our house hunting adventure that I talked about here. We have officially put an offer in on a house we liked! We are now just waiting to hear back from the bank for approval (crossing our fingers) on the offer. The house is a short sale, so we understand that this could be a lengthy process. In the meantime, our apartment lease ends August 15 which is just right around the corner. My brother-in-law and his wife were kind enough to offer up a spare bedroom for us to stay in the meantime. Their house is a closer distance to work than my or the hubby’s parents house. It will be a huge adjustment, we are used to driving 10 minutes to work and will now have to drive 40 minutes. Boo for the commute, but we just didn’t want to sign another lease on a place.
That’s all I have for now, I will keep you updated on what happens next!
